The 'J' is for Johnson. Here with my beloved parents and my four incredible sibs, 1966.

I've had a dual career in criminal justice alongside health and wellness. I am an Integrative Nutrition® Certified Coach and yoga instructor, a researcher and educator.

I have 30+ years of experience in the national criminal justice arena; specializing in research and evaluation, and policy and planning. This includes the Federal and District of Columbia governments, and private non-profit sectors. Among my most notable positions are Director of Government Relations for the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, Special Advisor to the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Senior Research Staff Scientist at the George Washington University’s Institute on Crime, Justice and Corrections, and most recently, Director of Justice and Community Relations at the Pretrial Services Agency for the District of Columbia.

When I wasn't at my day job, I pursued my passion for health and wellness. I wrote my Master’s thesis in 1987 on infant nutrition and the importance of breastfeeding. I've worked as a lactation counselor, fitness advisor for Curves International, presenter on nutrition for the Federal FedsGetFit Campaign and Federal Women's Program. In 2012, I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories; everything from Ayurveda, gluten-free, and Paleo, to raw, vegan, and macrobiotics, and everything in between. Along the way, I also became an RYT-200 trained yoga instructor and taught workplace yoga. Currently I work on a project team with Dr. Christiane Northrup, one of the country’s most respected authorities on women’s health.

In 2009, I created The Guardian Angel of Health, a 501(c)(3) non-profit fund that provides financial assistance to individuals with health situations not covered by insurance and beyond personal finances. I find great joy in offering these relatively small awards that make a huge difference in someone's life.
